Question: Why is the playstation portable core (psp 1000) now so much money?

I have a limited edition star wars psp slim, but then regretted getting it because I really wanted the shiny black psp fat. I know that sony stopped selling the psp fats to make money, but now on amazon I see a playstation portable (psp 1000) selling for $400.00. I want to know why they charge more now for a brand new psp fat than a perfectly new psp slim, besides sony wanting to make more money. Honestly, I think sony is trying to rip off consumers. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Sony has never raised the price of hardware after its release. You're looking at an Amazon Marketplace listing by someone looking to get more cash out of the fact that the PSP 1000 is now semi-rare.

Since these are not sold in stores anymore, sony is the only one with access to new 1000's. since they know you can only get them from one place, they can mark them up because you will HAVE to buy it from them, so they can make more.
