Question: Can playing video games for to long mess up your vision?
(Posted by: BW on 2010-03-10 21:43:19)
Does anyone know of any circumstances where problems have occurred? Blurred vision, eyes are shaky? How far is a safe distance to sit away from the T.V.? |

Honestly, it depends on the person. Many people will say that it does screw with you vision, but some people are more affected by it than others (I know hardcore gamers with 20/ 20 vision, and some that are near-blind). The blurred vision will pass; it's caused by the overload of light that entered your eyes. Similarly because you strained your eyes a lot while playing, your vision will be blurred and shakey. Give it time, and it'll go back to normal. As for distance, it depends on the size of TV. I'd say that you should at least 6 feet away, and if you have a large TV, about ten feet away. |

It depends how big your tv is, but you should stay as far as 6 ft away from the tv or you can damage your eyes |

I think i may have become near sighted thanks to playing video games and using the computer for long periods of time over the time of my childhood. 5 ft+ to be safe |

Staring at anything frequently, for long periods of time, can affect eyesight... video games, computer, reading. I have horrible eyesight... but I'm also an avid reader, a video game addict, and a web developer. I was doomed from the start. LOL! |

I've been playing video games for more than twenty years and I have better than 20/ 20 vision. I'm like an f'n EAGLE. LOL. |
